58- Merry Christmas

December 26, 2007 on 4:08 pm | In Uncategorized | Comments Off

We trust that you are having a GREAT Christmas season through these days! Thanks for the prayers during our Field meetings in Australia as God really has been at work and there are great days ahead. We have had the awesome chance to be with family during this Christmas as my folks are visiting here in Fiji and the neighboring families have relayed to us that they are able to hear our laughter some distance way down the dirt road. We have so much to celebrate and we thank the Lord for you as well, our extended eternal family!

57- Greetings from Cairns — Australia

Thank you for praying for us in the midst of strategic Field meetings for this part of the world, being held at our combined South Pacific and Melanesia Field Office, where our Field Strategy Coordinator for both fields, James and Joy Johnson base out of, here in Northern Australia. Pray for us as we consider implications of major shifts in how missionary work is done in the middle of a world changing very fast. God continues to radically challenge our faith, call us out of our comfort zones, force us to look to His vision not ours, requiring what only He can do. It is His Kingdom. We belong to Him! He is a trustworthy God and we can NEVER forget that OUR GOD REIGNS!!

56 - Quote from Fiji Times newspaper today

December 10, 2007 on 8:06 pm | In Uncategorized | Comments Off

“Meteorology director Rajendra Prasad said in his 30 years as a weatherman, he had never come across such a cyclone system as intense and erratic as Hurricane Daman.
He said the answers to why the hurricane changed its path were for God to explain.”

55 - Hurricane Gone– Off to Australia

December 10, 2007 on 4:04 pm | In Uncategorized | Comments Off

‘Daman’, the Category 4 Hurricane is gone today - dissipating down to nothing somewhere in the Pacific off to our South East…   having done a loop all the way around us!!  Thank you for your specific prayers. With the hurricane no longer a threat, plans remain to leave for Australia tomorrow morning. I would ask for prayer for the Field meetings that we have scheduled in Cairns (pronounced ‘Cans’) for the remainder of this week. Pray also for the 17 families who lost their homes in this hurricane in the villages of the Fijian Island of Cikobia (pro.  ‘Thikombia’) which is further from us than the Island of Rabi (pro. ‘Rambi’) where we took an evangelism team a couple years ago.

54 - DAMAN TURNS!

December 8, 2007 on 4:02 pm | In Uncategorized | Comments Off

Don’t tell me there’s no power in prayer. The projected path of this storm (now Cat. 4 Hurricane - 110kt winds) was headed over our home (green mark halfway across the southern shores of Viti Levu) when we sent out our request for prayer 48 hours ago.

53 - Update on Cyclone Daman

December 7, 2007 on 3:58 pm | In Uncategorized | Comments Off

She is intensifying, with sustained winds right now of about 60 knots, gusting to 100 knots. Now category 3. The eye is currently projected to go over the top of us with local meteorological forcasts taking her to the west of our home and international forcasts taking her to our imediate east.Thank you so much for your continued prayers!

52 - Urgent Prayer Request!

December 6, 2007 on 1:59 pm | In Uncategorized | Comments Off

The wind is picking up, and we are battening down the hatches. Tropical Cyclone Daman is scheduled to be on us by tomorrow with sustained winds at 50 knots - this has the potential of increasing in intensity. I’ve spent the day today on the west side of our island of Viti Levu securing the boats Galilean II and Galilean III. Please pray as we are looking at dealing with a direct hit from this cyclone in the next couple of days! We are praying that it will change course.
